We are parents… part 1

We woke up earlier than the sun this morning to clean house before our nephews would be dropped off for the first time to spend a few nights with us. We are parents for the next 3 days to my 4 and 2 year old nephews. I think it would be fun to see how the weekend goes in pictures. I am still a diaper changing virgin and plan on staying that way for a while… so I told Josh he could be in charge of River and I would be in charge of Jonah. I have already changed what we have been playing/doing about 11 times in the last few hours, we have gone through jenga, dancing, pulling them around on a blanket, making crowns, watching a movie, playing ball, reading books and coloring. I’m already tired! I hope I can keep up with them and keep rolling out fun, creative things to keep them busy.

Wish us luck!

Did I mention that I’ve never been a parent before?

January 16, 2010 - 2:22 pm Ginger Ivey - Oh what fun!! I can't wait to be in lbk so I can hang out with Marla and the boys...and soon to be little girl! Yall have fun this weekend!

January 16, 2010 - 3:30 pm Alena - They look soo adorable! ... how much trouble can they be? ;) Have a fun weekend!

January 16, 2010 - 8:37 pm Janet McK - What fun! I nanny a 2 and 4 year old. Here are some ideas in case you run out: cheerios necklaces (a snack and a craft!), they like to run laps around the center of the house while i count, they're really into cutting paper right now so recently we used all the little paper for a parade (we marched around the center of the house singing songs, playing instruments and throwing their confetti), painting with glue and gluing stuff to it (anything really, no craft supplies? rice and pasta work great!) Can't wait to see more pictures!

January 16, 2010 - 9:34 pm Robyn Lee - HAHAHA!!!! I'm not a parent either, but I think my husband and I would be just like you and Josh! But I know y'all are going to have a couple of fun-filled days!

January 17, 2010 - 12:38 am Jenice - How fun! Can Joss and Jack be next? :)

January 17, 2010 - 10:20 am Joey Manwarren - I am a mother of 3 here in Lubbock so I know how you feel! Perhaps they might like the Science Spectrum or Legacy Play Village. Sidewalk chalk and bubbles are always a hit! Barnes and Noble or the library have story time for this age. Building forts is always a huge hit! A picnic in the park or making cookies are some of our faves. It's nice enough that a trip to Sheridan's could be in order! We also play at the McDonalds on 82nd and Milwaukee....but make sure and wash your hand afterwards! Do you have church friends that you can borrow a trycycle from? We have one and a wagon that you are welcome to borrow....and a tractor that pedals too! Good luck! Don't be afraid to turn on noggin for 30 minutes so you can shower! :)

January 17, 2010 - 10:25 am Nina - Your going to be an awesome mom Lauren!

January 17, 2010 - 3:50 pm AmyPunky Photography - They are cute!! You'll be fine!! :)

January 17, 2010 - 6:39 pm The Velvet Trunk - More power to you! Sounds like you couldn't be doing a better job! ;-)

January 17, 2010 - 10:10 pm Michelle Weathers - That is too funny! My husband and I were BOTH diaper virgins until we had our son! Talk about being scared to welcome someone into the world and not even know how to change a diaper! You learn FAST!!! Good luck!
