Carter LOVES football and cars/machines!

Pure Country. These 4 live on a farm in Hermleigh, Texas, my old home town for 6 years. I’ve known their parents for 15 years now. Wow, I feel old saying that. More to come, off to another shoot!

Lesson no. 2 learned from shooting kids: shooting at 1.4 isn’t going to work anymore. 3.5 is my new average.
Well if you haven’t heard yet, I am changing the course of my business to kid photography! I will still accept 10 weddings per year, but my new venture will be photographing YOUR fun kids and families!
Since I have ALWAYS turned away kids and most family sessions I wanted to extend a discount to maybe bring those people back:).
My session package is normally $500 and includes $200 in prints. Well if you book a kid/family session by the first of April (you must purchaseit by April, but can use it through the middle of July before we move to Oklahoma) then I am giving a new package like this one…
$500 package, but instead of only $200 in prints, this one will have $400 in prints! WOW!!
To get the word out about this I will need your help! Post this link (http://laurenclarkphotography.com/blog/kidfamily-session-sale/) or explain what’s going with the giveaway on your facebook status, blog, or twitter with this link and then leave a comment. In two weeks I’ll draw a name and that family will get a FREE FAMILY SESSION with $400 credit to spend, absolutely FREE!!! Thanks for your help, now get posting and start winning!

Sweet Claire.
Saturday I didn’t have a wedding and was itching to shoot, something that is happening quite a bit lately, and called up my sis-in-law to see if I could practice on her maternity pictures. Isn’t she beautiful? She is having baby no. 3, and the first girl on the Clark’s side!

So yesterday on a whim I sold three of my prime lenses on facebook. Right after I listed and sold my 45mm TS-E lens I went onto my favorite camera store, B&H, and bought the 70-200mm 2.8 IS with overnight shipping for my new venture into kids photography. Let me just say that this split second decision was a great one! Almost this entire session was shot with it and I LOVE IT! I came away from this session renewed and excited about photographing kids! Here are my favorites…

So in my attempt to start building my kids portfolio I called up my sis-in-law, Marla, and asked if she could bring Jonah to me for a few fun ideas that I had. Well since I’m so used to working with hardy adults and seniors who will brave any weather for a good shot, I learned my first lesson in my children’s photography journey.
Lesson #1- Reschedule if the windchill is in the 20’s.
Lesson learned. We rescheduled the session after these funny photos…

This morning started pretty early for me and even earlier for Josh. Luckily, but not luckily for Josh, I’m a super heavy sleeper. I can fall asleep in any situation, light or dark. I heard commotion in the house at 6 AM, and I think the last time I woke up that early was for a flight to Love Affair last year, and let me tell you it did come early! Today was extra busy and here are the things that Josh and I did with the kids today: went to Legacy Play Village, colored with sidewalk chalk, watched a movie, played Candy Land, read books, played with balls, played with Meridian, ran around the front yard, hide and seek, rode the horse, played in dirt, drove tractors, read more books and finally went to bed. I feel like it’s 12 AM right now. It has been fun and exhausting. Here are more pictures…

Jonah loved giving Rev treats. We just moved Rev to Mom and Tim’s farm this weekend and he is being a bit mistreated by the other horses, and Jonah was a welcome friend to Rev.
Jonah did feed him a few too many peppermint treats and this was Rev’s reaction…

Buds.

Sidewalk chalk fun with Auntie.

We walked Rev all over 30 acres with the kids on him, and just want to say that he is a pretty good horse.

Jonah and River brushing Rev after a long ride.

The giant dirt mounds from Tim’s new driveways into the farm. It was a fun place for a bunch of boys (and me too! I just need a little extra lotion tonight, that’s all).

When my brother and his family came into town over Christmas they needed a quick family session with their 5 month old new precious girl, Jocelyn Eloise. It had snowed a few inches and there was snow everywhere! I took them to a field and put them on my barcelona chair for a few quick pictures. Here is Chris, Jenice, Jackson and Jocelyn.

Last weekend Josh and I flew to Houston to photograph a wedding near Katy. We got to stay with my cousins, Zach and Carley, and photographed their kids. It was such a fun weekend.
